WWII Naval Ammunition Depot
Hwy 6 East of Hastings
Igloo-shaped, earth covered bunkers stand dormant along US Highway 6 just a short drive east of Hastings. Rich in historical significance, these bunkers protected ammunition produced here during World War II. The Naval Ammunition Depot known locally as "The NAD," was the largest of four munitions depots in the country and was known for supplying 40 percent of the Navy's ammunition supply at one point during WWII.

Adams County Veteran's Monument
Parkview Cemetery
Just inside the gates of Parkview Cemetery, the Adams County Veteran’s Monument dedicated to each of the branches of the United States Military stands proud. The ten individual monuments that make up the Adams County Veteran's Monument include names of those, both living and deceased, who have served their County. Monument Circle is also the location of the Adams County Civil War Veterans Monument.
Chautauqua Pavilion
5th & Laird Ave.
Built in 1907, this pavilion is considered the largest in Nebraska and has a seating capacity of 3,500. Voices heard echoing in the rafters have included William Jennings Bryan and Robert F. Kennedy. Today the pavilion is used for events such as Hastings Symphony concerts, summer church services and a variety of city wide celebrations.
Fisher Fountain/Holiday Island
12th St. & Denver Ave.
During the taxing years of the Dust Bowl, Fisher-Rainbow Fountain provided a small escape for those who gathered to watch its jets of water, to marvel at the light display, and to be cooled by the spray of the water. From Mother's Day to Labor Day the fountain's many jets dance into the sky, illuminated by lights of every color.
Oregon Trail
South of Hastings
The Oregon Trail passes through Adams County just south of Hastings and several remnants of the era are still visible. Directions to the historical markers, Susan Haile Grave (near Kenesaw) and Simonton-Smith Grave (8 miles south of Hastings), are available at the Adams County Historical Society and the Hastings Visitor Center.
Perkins Products Company
508 W. 1st Street
Invented by Edwin Perkins in 1927 Kool-Aid and other Perkins Products were manufactured here from September 1922 until January 1931. Today an interactive Kool-Aid Display can be seen at the Hastings Museum.
Duncan Field
Elm & South Street
Built in 1940, this baseball field is one of Nebraska's best-loved sports venues. Serving as the site of the American Legion's "Little World Series" three times, Duncan Field is where local big-league All Star Johnny Hopp and future Hall of Famer Yogi Berra played in their youth. Until the aluminum bat era, only 19 home runs cleared Duncan's distant red brick wall. Today the stadium is host to Hastings College Bronco Baseball and American Legion Baseball Leagues.
