The Sachtleben Observatory of Hastings College
See the wonders of the universe at the Sachtleben Observatory! Four telescopes offer great veiws of the Moon, planets, star clusters and much more.
The observatory is open to the public 2 Saturday nights a month; the programs are held weather permitting. Sessions usually begin with a short presentation highlighting various sights of that evening's sky. Afterwards, the program presenter conducts an open veiwing session using -14, -10 and 8-inch reflecting telescopes.
Programs begin the following times:
November & December...7:30p.m.
Admission to the observatory is free; stargazers of all ages are welcome. The observatory closes 90minutes after the program starting time.
Before you visit, please call Starline at (402)462-7378 for a recorded message informing you about cancellations due to weather plus schedule changes and additions; the message is usually updated by 5p.m. every Saturday evening.

The observatory is located on Wabash Avenue, three miles south of U.S. Highway 6. Watch for signs on Highway 6 about one-half mile east of intersection with Highway 281. Look for the observatory is located on the east side of Wabash Avenue just before the pavement ends.
